I previously wrote about my visit to the Hermes store in Palo Alto where I was completely ignored. I had doubts as to whether I would get service in any store. I of course have made a couple of online purchases, but I was hoping to making contact in person so I could ask questions about the leathers/fabrics, try-on and just establish a relationship for future questions. So I went into the San Francisco Union Square store which is in a temporary location.
I went in to the show wanting to look at card cases and to buy a small scarf ring (and maybe a new scarf). I walked through the shop to get an overview of where things are in this temporary location. I had some concern since no one really acknowledged me when I walked in (just like at the other store)…. but here were several customers and the location is quite choppy with several separate rooms with different types of items.
As I looked in the case with wallets and card cases, an SA came over to help me. He was patient with all my questions on the choices of wallets and leather types. He also was great with suggesting scarves.
In the end, I was quite happy with my experience at the SF location of Hermes. I left the store with a Calvi Card Holder in Rose, a Chain d’ Ancre scarf ring and a beautiful scarf in black/beige/blue tones. My SA was patient and kind and I will probably go back to that location. On a side note… I also saw a woman being offered a Berkin, but she didn’t like the color (a beautiful grey-ish/taupe color) and she asked her SA if she could get one in a different color. Crazy.
